An English Cottage by A Pond

Saw a photo of Willy-Lott's cottage which is located in Dedham Vale England and fell in love with it. I checked into the history of the cottage and it is a 16th century cottage that was restored in the 1920's. It is widely photographed and painted. This is my interpretation of this famous home in rural England.

Fun in ths Sun

On a trip to Beaufort NC this summer I came across this picturesque cottage and could just imagine what a great time you could have here. With the bicycle on the front porch and the flag waving proudly, it was ready for the day. Hope you enjoy this painting.

A Day at the Beaufort Marina

On a recent trip to the beach I took time off from sun and surf to wander around the picturesque beach town of Beaufort, NC with my camera in tow. It so happened that there was a bit of activity at the docks, with a boat show going on. I took this picture along with several others that day. Once home I could not wait to put some of those scenes on canvas. Glad the bird posed so nicely for this picture. He seemed oblivious to the activity behind him.

I used a hot magenta acrylic paint as a base coat for this painting. It was a hot day, thus hot magenta seemed like a good color choice. I like to have a bit of the underpainting to show thru.

A Sleepy Italian Hillside Village

Recently the whole family went back to Italy to revisit where we once lived for just a short time when we were stationed there and living amidst the locals. This was way back when the kids were small and it was 2 fantasic years living on the economy right on the Adriatic near the resort town of Rimini. As a family, we had never lived anywhere but the USA so living there was the great adventure we shall always treasure. Going back with grown children was nostalgic and a thrill...but we were there this time as tourists and spent 10 days of seeing the sights. Like all tourists, we an album full of pictures to remember our trip. This is a painting I have done from a photo of the trip. I cannot identify the village. The picture was taken of the Italian landscape as it ambled by while we sat on the train and drank in the countryside. I will be doing a series of paintings from this trip, this being my first. I am enjoying painting them and love seeing my memories come to life!

Ciao for now!

Tulip time

The weather is hot now and tulips have died away outside here in all this heat we are having. They do live on however in my painting I did of those colorful beauties. Painted just a small 8x1o painting but love all those colors...so bright and cheery! It makes me smile. Now there are tulips any time I want.

Make a Wish

This week I decided to paint a picture of my grandson Grey who lives in Florida. He celebrated his birthday last week and my son posted some pictures of his big day. Turning 14 is a big event! The photo I loved best reflected the light of the candles in his glasses and caught his sweet smile. I just knew I had to paint this picture. I am giving this to his dad, Jamie. He worked hard at that cake (it is gluten free by the way). I hear it got eaten in record time!

Hope Grey got his wish.

Show at Apex Peakfest

Yesterday was a good day to come out for the annual Peakfest in Downtown Historic Apex. The weather was perfect and we had a great turn out for our student art show at The Red Canvas.

I had four paintings displayed, and sold Oma Rests... 8"x 10" acrylic on canvas:

The paintings will be on display for the rest of the week. There are many talented artists displaying their recent works at great prices!
